Louis, I think the 8 foot long ramp will be too steep to savely push someone up it. The ADA requires a ramp to be no steeper than 1:12 and level landing at the top. That means for a 22 inch rise you would need a 22 foot long ramp with a 5 foot long landing at the top. Since this is your private home you wouldn't need to follow the ADA. However, I would suggest making the ramp at least 16 feet long - then you could make it out of (two) four by eight sheets of plywood. - Rob
